image for site
While we don’t have access to Codex at the moment, there are still some amazing no-code tools and platforms available now. In the sections below, we’ll be taking a look at the best of the best, in areas like:
  • Web and App Development
  • Project and Data Management
  • Automation and Integration
  • Analytics and Modeling

Here we go!
Using Bubble, indie hackers and startups can build exciting tech products and web apps without actually knowing how to code. Creators love the platform’s flexibility and feature set.
While Bubble indeed has its many benefits, it is not for everyone. Some find this no-code web app tool hard to use. The need for separate plans for each product is also not ideal.

Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives to Bubble - and founders can find the right no-code app development platform for them.

AtSupport Dept, we believe in making it as easy as possible to build powerful no-code apps. As ano-code agency, we’re here to help founders build the perfect web app using platforms like Bubble, Webflow, Glide and PowerApps!

What similar alternatives are available for Bubble? What do Bubble competitors offer? How do they compare in feature set, pricing and ease of use?

In this article, we’ll give you a roster rundown of the best alternatives to Bubble.io in 2022!

What is Bubble.io?

Traditional app development is tricky and takes plenty of time. Without the knowledge and expertise of experienced developers, founders can struggle to create an MVP in time and on budget. Bootstrappers and new startups can avoid this hassle by using a no-code development tool.
Bubble is one such platform. It’s designed to help founders create digital products and web apps with zero coding knowledge.

With Bubble, you can create fully interactive web applications using a drag-and-drop interface. The no-code platform can also handle thedeploymentandhostingof your product with no limits on user count, storage or traffic.

Founders love Bubble because it gives them the ability to develop, host, and manage their apps without having to rely on multiple partners.

For single app businesses, Bubble is fairly affordable too - with plans starting at$25 per month.

However, Bubble isn’t perfect. First of all, there’s a steep learning curve and it can take time to get to grips with the no-code app builder. Secondly, Bubble doesn’t do well with mobile app development.

Whilst it is possible toconvert Bubble web apps to native mobile appsfor iOS and Android - this isn’t the most ideal method. Mobile developers should look elsewhere to build robust native smartphone apps.

That’s why many founders turn to other no-code platforms to create their tech products. Let’s explore some of the best options on the market!

Top alternatives to Bubble.io for no-code development

Here are our top picks for the best alternatives to Bubble.io:
  • Webflow - To build beautiful websites
  • Appy Pie - For mobile app development
  • Glide - All-in-on alternative
  • PowerApps - Create internal apps for enterprise use

Let’s look at each of them in more detail!

Webflow - affordable alternative for websites

Webflowis Bubble’s closest competitor. It’s a no-code platform for designing beautiful, functional websites and web apps.
Using Webflow, non-coders and coders can ship, manage, and promote websites of all types faster, more efficiently, and more collaboratively. Whilst Bubble focuses on SaaS products - as evident by their guides on creating clones of services likeNetflix,TrelloandFacebook- Webflow focuses heavily on helping businesses build websites and CMS sites.

Pros:
  • Webflow gives founders plenty of design freedom for building the websites they want to create.
  • This platform is tailor-made for building beautiful web apps fast. Its hosting services are simple and reliable.
  • Web developers say that “anything is possible with Webflow”. If it’s on the web, it can be made in Webflow.
Cons:
  • Like Bubble, Webflow isn’t designed to create native mobile apps. Any mobile application designed on this platform will need to be web-native. This isn’t too much of an issue for simple apps, but power apps will need a dedicated mobile-native builder.
  • App developers say Webflow’s UX isn’t great. There’s still quite a learning curve before you can properly make use of Webflow’s potential.
  •
Bubble and Webflow have pretty much the same advantages and disadvantages. How do they compare in pricing?

Webflow’s basic plan starts at $12 a month - offering a custom domain and 50GB of bandwidth. If you’re planning on delivering any content, you’ll need to opt for the CMS plan - setting you back $16 a month.

Businesses and tech products may want to opt for the Business plan, costing $36 a month. On the whole, Webflow is more affordable than Bubble.

Appy Pie - mobile app development

AppyPiecertainly doesn’t have the reputation or pedigree of Bubble or even Webflow. However, this no-code app development is a great alternative to Bubble for those developers looking to create native mobile applications and powerful web apps.
The star of the show here isAppyPie’s no-code mobile app builder. With plenty of templates to choose from, you can get a working MVP in minutes.

Pros:
  • AppyPie is designed for creating brilliant native mobile applications. Its templates make it easy to get started.
  • It’s fairly easy to use. Founders will enjoy its relatively shallow learning curve.
  • Developers appreciate its helpful and accessible customer support.

Cons:
  • Functionality can be quite limiting at points. It’s definitely not as flexible as Bubble or Webflow.
  • If you’re building a complex app, AppyPie can get quite expensive. Developers complain of somewhat hidden charges and limited starter plans. In fact,Capterra’s Ryan Esays “don’t get your hopes up unless you’re ready to pay”.
  • Basic and Gold plans don’t support iOS development.

What concerns us most with Appy Pie is the platform’s apparent lack of transparency in pricing. On the US site, for example, they won’t even display their pricing plans before you build your app for free or request a demo.

When you finally get to the pricing page, you’ll find the Basic plan starts at $16 a month. Remember, this is per app. This plan only supports Android app development but does include unlimited bandwidth, hosting, and app editing.

The Basic plan gives you 500 fee-free monthly app downloads and 5000 push notifications. If you exceed this allowance, you’ll be charged $0.009 per extra download and $0.001 for every additional push notification. If your app suddenly gets popular, this can get quite expensive.

The cheapest plan that includes iOS development is the Platinum plan. This will set you back $60 a month. This is also per app. That means Appy Pie can get quite costly for iOS app founders.

Glide - ease of use

Glideis an incredibly simple tool for creating business apps and websites - and it works through Google Sheets or Excel. Glide’s tools are split into three product areas:
  • Glide Apps:This is closer to your standard no-code app builder. You can easily browse templates and use their drag-and-drop editor to build great mobile apps. These apps sync with data in spreadsheets - making this the perfect platform for building business companion apps.
  • Glide Slides:This is their no-code webpage creator. With Slides, you can create stunning portals, dashboards, and directories powered by your spreadsheet data. It’s pretty cool, actually!
  • Glide Data Editor:Finally, Glide offers a spreadsheet editor as an alternative to Sheets or Excel.

Pros:
  • Glide is easy-to-use. Creating an app is dead simple. Data management is usually the trickiest part of app development, but using Sheets and Excel integration makes this a breeze. Glide will automatically sync with chosen spreadsheets, allowing you to easily create responsive applications.
  • Its preset designs are quite attractive. You can develop a pretty good product to look at in minutes.

Cons:
  • Glide is characteristically quite limited. It works great for simple apps and slides but lacks Bubble’s depth in features to create more complex applications.
  • Glide’s apps tend to have very specific use cases. For example, this isn’t the tool for creating consumer-oriented applications.

How about pricing?

Glide’s Starter plan is priced at$25 a month. This allows you to create up to 5 apps and have up to 1000 users. Most businesses will want to go for the Pro plan, which will set you back $99 a month.

This plan does give you unlimited apps. If you plan on creating plenty of business apps, this may be cost-effective. Here, users are capped at 1,000.

Given that Glide caps registered active users, it’s clear that this platform isn’t designed for large apps that scale with you. It’s better suited to business apps and internal platforms.

Bonus: Microsoft PowerApps - best for internal enterprise apps

Looking for a heavy-duty no-code platform for building enterprise & business apps. That’s where PowerApps from Microsoft comes in.
It’s important to note that this platform offers an entirely different use case to Bubble and its alternatives. PowerApps is designed for creating internal applications to help with process automation. It forms part of Microsoft 365’s Power platform of BPA tools.

If that’s a use case you’re looking for, Microsoft’s PowerApps may be a useful consideration. This platform starts at $5 per user/app/month.
